The Company

EAXA, standing for Unification of the Archaeological Sites of Athens S.A. was founded in October 1997 (its incorporation published in issue 909 / 15 October 1997 of the Greek Government Gazette) and is a Societé Anonyme type company owned entirely by the Greek ministry of Culture, and the ministry of the Environment, Planning and Public Works. The articles of incorporation provide that the Agency will operate for ten years with headquarters in the municipality of Athens. The Agency?s founding goal is to implement a program for unification of the archaeological sites of Athens, as detailed in the specific plan that includes physical projects and other interventions. To accomplish its goals the Agency is going to:

1. Produce designs detailing or supplementing the existing preliminary design for unification of the archaeological sites, or to assign partial or full production of such designs.

2. Oversee and manage the program for unification of the archaeological sites, in matters concerning project design and construction.

3. Undertake the execution and supervision, or the assignment to other parties of all projects required for implementation of the program.

4. Recommend any arrangements and approvals required by and/or for the program (planning, traffic etc.).

5. Elaborate specifications and calls for proposals for the assignment of program designs, and tender documents for all projects to be performed under this program.
